Krabi Bars and Nightlife

In Krabi Town, most of the bars are chilled, inviting both locals and Westerners to relax and enjoy while drinking local spirits and beer. There are many Krabi bars and open-air cafes, which usually stay open late into the night, often with giant screens showing the latest Thai pop videos, or English football games. This is great for backpacking football fans who want to catch up with the league and more often than not, you will find a good connection with staff at the local Krabi bars who share a love of football. Live music is also popular here, with Thai bands regularly performing covers of Western hits and local music.

There are also a number of karaoke bars around Soi 2, 7 and 11 off Maharat Road. Hostesses can be invited to join your table for a drink and maybe a song should you wish. There are no real go-go bars in Krabi, which means it is a great place for holiday makers traveling with children.

Whether traveling alone or with a group of friends, you are guaranteed an enjoyable time in Krabi as the locals are always super friendly and eager to make Westerners get the most out of their stay. The tourist clientele is usually quite mixed at Krabi bars, with couples, singles and groups – and both sexes are welcome.

Another area in Ao Nang is known locally as The Soi. This is a short side road opposite Krabi Seaview Resort with a similar set-up of playful beer bars that can stay open after hours if there are plenty of people about.

The bar scene along Krabi’s beaches is ambient and pleasant, reflecting the easy going Southern beach culture. Softly lit, bamboo beach bars populate the soft sands and are most commonly the places to hang out. The bars are often vibrantly decorated with plenty of cushions and pavilions. Many are home to a hammock or two, ensuring the ultimate relaxation for Westerners visiting Krabi. You can sink into a hammock or pile of pillows, sip on cocktails and watch the world go by with ease.

The sound of the ocean waves, a sky littered with bright shining stars and some sweet music is all you have in the way of entertainment; this is the way to enjoy the beach life. During high season, many of the bars have live fire shows and magicians, which show spectacular skill and often a live DJ will keep the place alive with Western electro music.

Many of the bars in Railay are located along the concrete footpath that was built along the shore as a way to protect it from erosion. This is a popular area to hang out day or night.
